Vitex Negundo, native to Asia - is known as the Beekeepers Best friend. When temperatures are high & most everything is struggling Negundo blooms providing precious nectar to bees, native bees & bumbles. You can almost hear the tree buzzing with activity during the heat of the day.
Vitex Negundo can be grown as a single stem tree by pruning all but one main stem or as multi-branched bush. Blooms are soft lilac in color & fragrance is soft.
Give this plenty of room unless you plan on keeping it trimmed. I have had my Negundo for 13 years & it is now 19 feet wide. When watered regularly it will continue to bloom & provide nectar.
